Highlights of the July Meeting!
Notes here from Bill Plott:

STYLE OF THE MONTH:  Meads.  We waited an inordinately civilized length of time for Francis the Mead Master, then plunged ahead.  It was a small but congenial group. The consensus was that the homebrewed meads were all much, much better than the commercial samplings.
        1. Kim’s Kudzu Honey, Ginger Mead, a sparkling mead dating to 2004.
        2. Andy’s Generational Mead, brewed in 2005. He pulls off half a gallon each year and adds water & honey to the mix. The honey added this year was plastic packages from Chic-fil A.
        3. Tracy’s 8-month-old Wax Lips II without the Mandarin oranges.
        4. Bill (Lees) Mead With a Bunch of Lemons, Ginger Root and 10# of Sugar. In other words, 11-year-old alcoholic lemonade?
        5. Kim’s Kudzu Mead but a heavier variation.
        6. Kim’s April ‘07 Mead, brewed with last year’s Tupelo Honey.
        7. Blue Dog Mead, Blue Dog Mead Co., The Dalles, Oreg., commercial.
        8. Ragmar’s Reserve Honeyrun Mead, Honeyrun Honey Co., Chico, Calif. “As if Ragnar would have any reserves” readeth the label.
And here begins the non-style libations.
        9. Midas Touch, Dogfish Head 9%.
        10. Red Bridge, Anheuser-Busch sorgham beer.
        11. Road Trip, Sweetwater BC, Atlanta.
        12. Blue Heron Pale Ale, Mendocina BC, Saratoga Springs, NY.
        13. Andy’s Oatmeal Porter, made from modified Ala-Brew kit with molasses and extra hops.
And whatever may have surfaced after I turned into a pumpkin at 9 o’clock.
Oh yes, Dan and Chris, thanks for the groceries. We enjoyed them over the weekend.
